I'd like to dive in Bali and vicinity during 2012. I have read that I should avoid the summer tourist season and that winter is wet and windy. Does the winter weather adversely affect diving conditions significantly or just limit land-based activities? I plan to travel around the Bali coast a bit and visit other local islands. It will be primarily a diving trip.

Good morning FishDiver, the rainy season weather doesn't affect the diving too badly in Bali; we have some dive sites where the visibility will be down slightly (Tulamben and Amed side of the island), this is mainly from the river run-off. But we never have any days when we can't dive somewhere on the island!

Happy diving

I agree with Absoluteamanda. Diving is still definitely worthwhile in the rainy season. It is also less likely to be busy which is a great advantage. Rainy season here usually means one shower a day, quite often in the evening. So land-based activities are also not much of a problem.
