I think my idea for BCD is ok, but my vote is for "Vancouver diving club that formed on scubaboard.com". it makes me laugh. Ooooorrr, GVR, am guessing it stands for "Greater Vancouver R-something"

GVRD - Greater Vancouver Regional Divers ?

Thanks. Guess that's well known to anyone in your area. What about the folks that want to get info or people to dive with that are from the east coast? This colloquialism might not be understood. They like myself won't catch on and I don't think that's what you want.

What about BC Beaver Divers? I like this one since it incorporates our national animal.

we can dress up this dude in some scuba gear and make it our mascot:

SeanQ:
Spyhopping is a behaviour exhibited by whales. The whale pokes their head out of the water and looks around for a few minutes before descending again.

Cool, Spyhoppers or Vancouver Spyhoppers gets my vote.

Sorry, OE2X, I didn't think past Vancouver people to those that would also be interested in what GVRD means. (Greater Vancouver Regional District)

Cheers,
Bill.

Beavers make everything better!!!

but honestly, how many beavers are there in Vancouver? I like your orca idea - it focus on a very unique part of the local dive scene!

Here are my two contributions to the name game.

BC Strait Swimmers - These seven straits cover a large part of the waters we dive in. Juan De Fuca, Haro, Georgia, Malaspina, Johnstone, Broughton, Queen Charolette

BC Coastal Bottle Backs - I had to suggest one funny one.
