I am curious as to how sidemount divers rig their BC's and what kind of BC does one use for this type of diving? I would assume that if you used a regular bp/wing combo with the tanks sidemounted that the wing would fold up like a taco and you would look like a moth sitting on a ledge. Is there a bracket made to hold the wing down or something? I am not a cave diver, nor am I trying to put together a sidemount rig, I am just very interested in how it works. Thanks

I am sure others will be along shortly...but, MHK used a Pioneer 27# wing in "Dreamchasers" on A&E to fashion a sidemount rig and it did exactly what you are talking about...full taco. I think majority of the divers that were on the show were using DiveRite wings with some sort of retainer straps to hold their wings down for a lower profile.

If you haven't seen the program, check it out..pretty interesting show.

Dive Rite makes a special wing for side mounts.
I saw it in Florida

Where can I get the "Dream Chasers" video? Is it for sale, or can I rent it?

Someone else asked me about that...I have it on VHS, but have no way to dupe it since I only have one VCR. It was an A&E show, so maybe they will sell it to you? You could also check A&E's website and see if they ever rebroadcast it. Another option would to contact MHK directly and see if he knows...he is a really nice guy and would have no problems helping you out.. mhkane@prodigy.net

Thanks O-ring, I'll give it a try.

The Dive Rite Transpac 2 can be set up for side mounts. They actually sell a couple of different pieces to attach to your waist belt for it. They also used the Trek wing.

I saw it when I bought mine. I got the Trek wing because it was a little smaller. It has a couple of attachment points that are used if you set it up for side mount too.

But I never set mine up for side mount.... And now I use my Halcyon more then the Transpac.... Well, custom BP I should say. Many different suppliers for the parts...
