So the big fish jumps over the boat, impales the guy, lands on top of him on the other side and swims away with his fish-kabob into the briny deep.

Yes, but we've banned long liners and gill netters in California. Recreational fishers are further decimating an already greatly reduced stock. And, as I fully expected, even catch-and-release mortality rates are high (as one of my friends discovered after he and I debated the issue and he decided to fund his own study... mortality rates were on the order of 50% post C-and-R.

I don't hunt griz... they fight back, too (making the contest a little more fair).
