I've been diving Monterey area for awhile, but would like a little input. I'm trying to come up with a sure fire way to always get my students to 60 feet depth. So who's got the best way?

That’s Macabee Beach and quite a swim to get to 60 from the beach easier from a boat but is a nice site. The empty lot just south of the Spindrift Inn at 650 Cannery Row has steps that lead to a sandy beach. The outside of the kelp is in sixty feet. No facilities and parking is slim, but you can shuttle from the breakwater parking lot or park in the Cannery Row parking lot one block south.

I dove the barge about a month ago, the line off of 13 leads right to it. Did something happen to it since? We saw 60 over the weekend at Breakwater, but its quite a surface swim. We kicked out along the wall to about 11, then dropped and found the line that led out to where the barge used to be. Its about a 10 minute swim from there and we hit 60. Then we followed the line back to the wall and followed that back in till about 6. Not the most fun dive, but if you need to hit 60 it can be done.
