I always buy online after research, from scubaboard or scuba lab gear reviews. Local dive stores have always tried cornering me into buying stuff I don’t want or like. Plus pricing is usually better.
I do not put an ounce of credit in Scuba Lab gear reviews. Scuba Board reviews are great because there are often additional comments (Pro or Con) and provide a good set a data for making decisions.

If your buying major brand (Scubapro, Aqualung, etc) they have minimum advertised pricing that even online authorized dealers must follow. LP had lower costs for years because they had “gray market” items. When they became an authorized dealer, same list price as everybody else. Often you can get some discounting if you ask or if you are looking at packages.
