Greetings SoCal Divers.

I want to introduce myself to the gang. My name is James and I've been a Mid-Atlantic Bottom Feeder (Wash, DC) for the last five years. At the end of this month I'm moving to LA. I'm a TV producer and writer (mainly wildlife stories) so it was in some ways inevitable to do a stint in LA.

I have not capitalized on the diving here on the East Coast as much as I had hoped but I trust that the "proximity and convenience" factor will come into play and I'm very excited to do my first Pacific Ocean diving. I've had the pleasure of meeting Ana (Wrinkles) and corresponding a bit with Dr. Bill. I look forward to meeting the rest of you soon.

We dive hard here. You're always welcome to join the SoCal crew - we'll hook you up with whatever you need for a dive - tanks, lights, Regs, Scooter - whatever.

Don't know where home is going to be yet. My girlfriend will be heading out this month to secure a rental to get us started -- most of our work will be in the Valley or West Hollywood area. I'm sure I'll I'll need a few "soft" dives to ramp up to the level of the regulars I see on the board. I'm sure you're all sick of Casino Point but maybe someone will take pity on me.

I have hundreds of dives there, and I love it. So much to see, changes day to day, great critters, the Valiant is a 3 minute scooter ride away. Lots to shoot.

Never a problem. We love the Point.

Move closer to the water and drive to work. You'll dive more. The further you live from the water, the less you'll dive - but you'll still go to work every day.

Fear not, I just LOVE Casino Point and am always looking for an excuse to dive there. I would be happy to show you around. The are some great people out here in the LA area who would also be willing to get you use to our diving, as well as a few groups.

Take a look at http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/beach-crabs/

James,

Get in touch when you get out here.

Of course it is a trade-off between living where the rent won't bankrupt you but the diving is a but of a drive, and living near the sea where the rents are outrageous and leave no disposable income for diving!

Hi James,
you can start "discovering" Casino Point right now ... from your home ... with our dive simulator. It is in beta testing online here www.ediving.us.

As you can see, we always welcome another diver and another excuse to dive (as if we need another reason). You will never be without someone to dive somewhere in So.Cal. Welcome and just say when.
