The dive team was activated last evening (approximately 1800 hours) for a report of a canoe turnover in the Kiski River and 2 individuals reported missing, presumed drowned. It's about a 15 minute ride from my house rather than go to the station. Once enough personnel arrive on scene with radios, they were able to determine that the 2 individuals who tipped over exited the river in a different area than their friends. After some "clustering", they determined that all 4 individuals were accounted for an cancelled everyone. Didn't stick around to determine if they had PFD's on, but I would be willing to bet they didn't.

Good outcome to a potentially bad situation.
