Hello!

Just curious... how was the trip to Phillips Quarry? Have a report or any Moonie pics?:D

I'm sure you two had much more fun than I did on that day!

I've been waiting to post a report, but with SB down it was kinda hard!

Here is the Moonie thread with pictures: http://www.scubaboard.com/showpost.php?p=2951319&postcount=1827

I'd rate the quarry a C-. Actually reminded us of how nice Blue Springs is! The viz below 30' or so was crappy at best. I kept running into Hoosier to keep him in sight and he had to work hard not to run into things himself. At one point he ran into the bottom thinking it was just one of the many weard layers of different colored "stuff." No, it was the bottom ... and then I ran into him! That was at about 50' or so.

We ascended to about 25' and did about a lap and a half of the quarry before ending the first dive.

I lead the second dive. We had a particular area of the deep "pit" we wanted to see so we descended into that shortly, navigated to the wall and then ascended to 25' or so and did a lap and a quarter of the quarry before I turned us around and went back to the entry point were we ascended.

One interesting thing is that the various boats they have aren't on the bottom, but rather are suspended in mid water. Interesting. I guess they figure that if they were on the bottom you wouldn't be able to find them!

My computer showed two dives:
1. 58 min BT, max depth 53', min temp 42 F
2. 51 min BT, max depth 44', min temp 47 F

At one point a bluegill swam up to Hoosier's side (he didn't see it but I did as I was following him) and then began to rub itself on his leg! I wonder if maybe it was trying to clean itself off or something!

It was a been there / done that kinda dive, but I'm in no big hurry to go back.
