Anyone else get an annoying, sporadic, mechanical rattling sound in their videos? I do with both of my G-16s. Here's an example:

It pretty much renders the natural sound of all my videos useless.

I think maybe it's the image stabilization?

If you really want to capture the sound of your underwater experience you will need an external microphone. A microphone inside the housing will only pickup the sound of the camera and activating the controls. I do not think any of the current cheap housings provide this?

Both of my ancient Amphibico video housings provide an excellent external microphone feature. They have a microphone outside of the housing that plugs into the video recorder inside the housing. My sound tracks tended to alternate between a pleasing popping background gurgle of my exhaust bubbles to a severe regulator air sucking sound. Especially when I chased after a whale shark.

Use of the external microphone eliminated the sound of the camera.
