with a +10 and 110mm it may get about 1:4 magnification as a quick estimation I think... so not very good... :((

I didn't even notice that section when I skimmed through the whole thing a couple of days ago.

I guess the G1x won't be a nudibrach specialist....

:shakehead:

Also, saw the WP-DC44 housing photo. Looks like I will need a lot of that Sea&Sea black velcro FO masking kit to cover the in-camera flash area to fire the remote strobe/s. The accessory flash diffuser looks like a joke, as was the ones on the G series.

oh well the specs for the actual focus distance and magnification are out
and they show no real macro opportunity for this camera underwater
except in conjunction with very high quality +10 diopters add-on at its maximum tele ranges:
---maximum magnification between 0.07% and 0.08% check the link at

For me this is good news. I can happily keep taking photos with my G12 + 2 x Dyron macro lenses. Otherwise, I might have wanted to upgrade. :)

Can you share where you saw it?

A Google Images search revealed two very different looking housings.

Thanks in advance.

:)

Take a look at marinecamera.com

Thanks. The photo they have is one of the two I found via Google Images. The other one had the more traditional Canon UW housing colour palette (yellow and green), but this Gothe-looking one would line up with the controls better.

However, I wonder how much we should trust a site which spells Canon "Cannon":

On the WP-DC44 I would like to see all black dials on top and a red shutter push button, black push buttons on the back too that's it. I don't care for the Canon easter egg color palette. I don't seem to have problems memorizing buttons and sequences. If you have intense maintainance program (lots of soaks and roiling in rain water) you can get 200 dives or more from these Canon housings. I'm on next dive number 239 on my G-10 and WP-DC28.

Once again, like the other G series cameras, there is no eTTL support when in Manual mode. It is supported in Av and Tv and P modes though. Unfortunately, when using eTTL in Av mode, the shutter speed is locked at 1/60th. I've found this to be a tad bit too slow. What to do what to do.

Can you do a custom function for Av that allows you to set the shutter speed to something faster? I am not sure what the fastest sync speed is on the G1x. It is 1/200th on the T21 which is what I set mine on. If I need something longer I go to Manual which does support eTTL on the T2i. I recently purchased a G12 (of course just before the G1x was announced) but am thinking of getting a housing for it for my wife. I use it for skiing when a dSLR would be a pain.
