I sent my G7x in to Canon service in Virginia and 6 days later a refurbished G7x was delivered to me. 3 dives on the new one and no issues.

Was the white speck in the lens when you bought the original?

Definitely not.
A few folks on another forum mentioned this happening soon after buying last year and early 2015. I bought mine in Jan, 15, so the warranty was running out soon.
