I just found out that a housing cost about 3K to purchase. I am not sure if I want to invest that much.

Has anyone tried using Canon's IXUS V3 to shoot movies. I know it's only about 60sec or less but just wondering if it's worth the try. Probably but a 1 Gig Compact flash.

Sad when you are on a budget ;-(

Have an Ixus 400, which I figure has much the same video capabililtes as your v3. The video capability is pretty good and certainly a great deal cheaper and less cumbersome than buying a housing for your video camera. That said, the results wont be in the same league either.

Take a look at http://www.simonandmerith.com/divevids-grenada2003/index.html for some videos I took with my Ixus recently. These have been edited using Microsoft movie maker (part of Windows XP)...whilst this is a good editing package, I do find it reduces the quality of the output a little.

Hope this helps
