Hi all, I am looking at getting a new 'point and shoot' camera for her day use as well as using when I am diving. I already have a canon DSLR so I would like to stick with the brand as I do like them. I can't afford an underwater housing for my DSLR so can anyone point me in the right direction for half decent canon and housing?

I have the G16 and an Ikelite TTL housing and I love it. Before that I had a Canon A570IS with the Ikelite housing (still have it) and I loved that as well. Switched to the G16 for all the improvements that "newer" brings. :)

thanks guys, that package looks quite good although if i go for it i will probably go without the camera as if i but an american one i will have to then get a uk charger

Just had s similar conversation with the folks at Blue Water Video yesterday about replacing my Canon S90/Ikelite housing. Concluded the Canon G7X with Fantasea housing would be best for my current needs. I like the G16 too, but for an extra @ $350 the G7X/Fantasea/Recsea/or Ikelite housing gives me a 20MP camera with a great video capability.

One of my buddies has changed from a G15 to a G7X with an Isotta housing and my daughter has just bought the same, great cameras and a neat housing although I am personally a Nikon user.

After having a relatively inexpensive Canon, then Olympus, compact camera over the last 10 years, I also decided to invest in a higher quality system. I purchased a Canon G7X and the Nauticam housing. I only have 30 dives on it but am extremely pleased with both the still and video performance. I have a lot to learn, and will happily pursue it

Canon g7x is a great camera. I have it with polycarbonate recsea housing and sea and sea ys-01 strobe. Got some great shots in Barbados in July.

I was thinking about a G16 before deciding on the G7X, for a variety of reasons. I seriously considered the Fantasea housing before deciding on the Nauticam housing. I bought it with the vacuum check system and it gives me much confidence to see the green light on. I lost both my previous compact camera systems to flooding, albeit after 5 or more years each. This is the highest quality and most expensive system I've owned, the extra piece of mind was worth it to me
