I remember another article about just this and it was mentioned that there was so much ammonia in the flesh of the giant squid that it renders it inedible....dang...I love calamari too!
 
I dove in Antarctica, thank goodness I didn't see one of those, my last thought would have been, "Damn, I've soiled my drysuit!"
