I picked up a Coltri MCH16 with a 9HP Honda gas motor and want to swap it out with a 7.5HP 1ph electric motor..

(If you want a 9HP honda gas motor or want to swap it for an electrical, let me know :))

But my question is, does anyone know what Frame motor types the Coltri base supports out of the box?

I have a Leeson 7.5HP motor thats a 184T frame, but it doesnt look like the MCH16 base have similar frame type support.

Now if I know what Frame types it does support, I can buy or manufacture a adapter plate/mount for it.

Also not sure what electric frame type equivalent the Honda 9HP gas motor has?

thanks!!

So to put a close to this thread..

There are 184T size holes in the original mounting frame, but they are MUCH closer to the compressor and would therefore need a different belt.. plus, you cant tighten the belt, its round fixed holes.. (same as for gas motor)

So, I opted for a mounting bracket that has some cam slots for belt adjustments.. My friend and great welder (thanks Steve!) welded up and manufactured the bracket for me in no time at all..

Even painted them blue to match.. Its very basic steel adapter and it works like a champ!!

I now have a 7.5HP electric motor and capability to make belt adjustments :)

here are some pics of the before and after..

You could have just gone to Grainger and bought an adjustable motor base.

Well.. err.. mine is blue! and.. I milk my own cows too! so there!.. :)

I didnt want to drill more holes in the base, so the bracket we made is super heavy duty and it fits on existing holes in the frame..

and.. did I mention its also blue :coffee:
