I digressed a little:

A DIR Style backup regulator replaces the typical Octopus with a second 2nd stage reg. secured around your neck with a bungy cord (aka necklace). Your regular second stage has a hose of either '5 or 7' that is routed under your right arm, up across your chest passing over your left shoulder, around the back side of your head, finally reaching your mouth.

A picture is worth a thousands words, eh?

Thanks, I did a lttle research on my own and this does seem to have it's good & bad. The one thing I am really not sure of is having the hose wrap around your head. Seems a little awkward. So when some says they have a DIR style Reg, the only difference is the length of hose?

This issue has been debated ad nauseum, and relax - the hose doesn't wrap around your head any more than a short hose has. It is impossible to strangle yourself with a long hose configuration.
