I was wondering how to tell if a coral is dead or alive.

Check a map. If it's in the Caribbean, it's probably dead.

sea dragon, dead coral is easy to spot

it looks like chalk or white rock, nothing grows on it (except algae)

generally speaking, if it has color, it's alive

this is what dead coral looks like:

that would be probably because of the crash course in scuba they teach then send new diver to kill them... but is there any particular thing you look for... is my question... i guess that is a question for a marine Biologist

thanks for the info... but is there any special triaining needed to collect Coral....

ah... well... collecting coral is illegal in most places, not to mention a real
bad idea

please don't kill any coral; it's already under a lot of stresses

it is so expensive to buy in the fish stores...

well, the coral they sell is grown in "rock farms" and doesn't harm the environment

it's against the law to mess with coral in Florida, btw.

how do they grow it.. what type of elements and environment would it need to grow... i am sorry if i have so many questions... but i would rather ask a million questions than to do something wrong or against the law....
