I bought a mk10/D350 and when the package arrived the owner sent me the original receipt. I was shocked at the cost of gear back in 1993 (I was 12). I thought gear was expensive today, but $740 for a horrible computer!!! If anyone is interested in the beuchat pro 3 gague console, I will sell it for half of what the original owner paid for it. I guess it was not common in 93 to have a computer. Just looking at these prices is shocking. $3500 for 2 sets of gear in 93!!! Makes you really appreciate the classified section on scubaboard. 20200820_185302.jpg

What does "Personal Check" mean? At least they were invited to the dive club meetings. Margins have gone down a little since the internet.

This is the $740 computer. I will let it go for only $370 and will include shipping!!! If you pay full price I might even personally deliver it to you.

That was a badass computer back in the day. The computer alone would retail at around 450-500. The console and gauge tacked up the rest.

remember that was the golden era of retail geography protection, and no internet. Consumers didn’t have many options.

btw, those computers are still darn useful for anyone diving air. I actually have two of them on my rack, with fresh batteries and they work great.

*just noticed the date on that invoice. Those Beauchet computers would have been at least 3-4 year old NOS by 1993. They were all sold badged as Uwatec after around ‘90-91.

That shop owner in Denver must have broken open a bottle of champagne being able to sell those babies off at full retail in 1993.

I have a receipt for 4 MB of computer RAM that I paid over $70 for, now you can get 16 GB for that price. On the other hand I just sold a Nintendo Gamecube cable that I paid $30 for in 2002 for $295.

Maybe not full retail, he did knock off $757.90 or about 18% off the total.

In 1993 an Aladin Pro was quite standard here in Europe.
It was expensive, but also the other parts of diving equipment were very expensive.
Diving was a very expensive sport when I was young.
It is amazing that now I managed to buy a Cressi Leonardo for just 99 eur (on Amazon Prime Day)...
