What are the rules on custom fuel tanks? I would like to increase my fuel capacity and like every body else do not have a good place for the tanks. I think I could have a pair of side tanks made to fit an other wise wasted space. Do they have to be factory certified or can they be produced at a repuitable Metal fab shop?

A good metal fab shop should be able to make you a quality tank. You need to insist on a good marine grade aluminum or stainless steel and that the tank pass a standing water and pressure test. Depending on the size of the tank, you may want to install baffles.
