How many minutes are there in a Single DEMA day??? Not nearly enough!

Here are the highlights of our day:

TUSA (Tabata USA) was one of our first stops. Mike Hanna was our most gracious host as he showed us the Viewtrek: a mask designed for underwater photography, the Platina Hyperdry snorkel, which they tied in a knot, and their Selene BC, designed for the female diver! You can find more info at http://www.TUSA.com !

Mike then showed us around Sea & Sea! WHOA… there’s a whole lotta pixels to go around! From the MotorMarine III to all of their underwater housings and strobes: what a great selection! Lots more info at http://www.SeaandSea.com !

Then we visited with the fine folks at Faber! As they put it: “We have steel on the floor, ready to go!” They have adopted the 2442psi/200 bar limit as well and we are starting to see some unity here. You can find out more info at http://www.DiveFaber.com !

O’Neil wetsuits has their broadest line ever! I asked them to show “what’s new” and they told me it was ALL new: they didn’t sell old junk! Snap! Make sure to look at a very fun web sight at www.oneill.com

Tech Diving Limited has had several new innovations including updates to their gauges, a launch of the new Nautilus Dive Planner and more, look for detailed information in the industry news forum.

Not an exhibitor, but circling them like a shark, was our very own Larry from www.ScubaToys.com! You can bet he was scarfing up deals like nobody’s business and filling up his Store with savings for YOU!

NetDoc did a podcast for www.ScubaRadio.com today and tomorrow he is set to take part in a Guinness World Record attempt to have the most journalists underwater for a press conference! Anything to get a dive in, that NetDoc is jonesing for the water!!! Put in his place, what would YOU ask the president of DEMA???

Day 3 remained busy although by afternoon traffic had started to diminish -- clearly this years show has outpaced 2004's which is a good sign for the industry in general, although given the sediment of a few individuals, things could certainly be better. However, for most companies the show has been positive -- almost all of the top names are there, the booths look great and there have been some great sized crowds around for the various events.

Perhaps the most common comment we've heard so far is the limited amount of product innovations. Certainly there have been a few great upgrades and product additions like the new Atomic Mask, the Zeagle Rapid Diver and Computer, the DUI public safety diver line and several others, but there just isn't a lot of out of the box product updates or releases right now.

However, the travel portion of the dive industry continues to thrive and there are some spectacular specials for SB members to take advantage of, keep your eyes peeled for more information!

Shortly before leaving we had a chance to stop by and speak to DUI today about their expanded public safety product line, look for more information on that today.

In our final day we will begin a full series of show recaps and highlights walking you through the ins and outs of the event, including a few last minute interviews and updates from other attendees.

Also be sure to stay tuned for photos from the first ever live underwater press conference. ScubaBoard’s very own NetDoc will be in the water interviewing DEMA personal in this exciting and ground breaking event!

Look for more details tomorrow & over the upcoming weekend as we recap the show!
