A community mosquito abatement program for urban areas, and DEET lotion & Permethrin treatment on clothes as a personal defense. That damned Aedes agypti mosquito species is always active and on the prowl, day or night. No vaccine has been developed yet that can cover all four serotypes of the Dengue Virus. . .

they said mossies for Dengue are active during day. got Dengue from our neighbor in Singapore, even living nice neighborhood!!!! very painful. There are 4 types of dengue, which means I still have 3 chances to get dengue..... you only immune agains what you got so far.....
No treatment.... you just keep hydrating yourself.... abusolutely NO Aspirin for the pain, use other painkiller.

Dengue is spread by mosquito so the best thing to do is mosquito prevention measures.

A vaccine is being worked on. However the nature of Dengue (it has four types, 1-4) is that after an infection by one type, a second infection with another type can cause the body to overreact and cause serious complications such as Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS) and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). A lot of children in Southeast Asia have died from this.

An early vaccine that was tried was the equivalent of a first natural infection so if one were to get a natural infection after vaccination it could cause these complications. So it will be a while before there is a safe vaccine.

A good reference is the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

You just haven't lived in Sing long enough!?

Live in Sin, out of curiousity... How do you know you got Dengue from your neighbor? Are they raising mosquitos? :eyebrow:

because 2 weeks before I got it, found warning letter from Ministry of Environment or some government authority in my mail box, which said there're some cases of dengue fever reported in the neighborhood.... Anyway, try not to be bitten by mossies in SE Asia!

Anyone go to Jakarta, or places affected by recent flood like Malaysia.. watch out.

"JAKARTA : There has been a surge in the number of dengue fever cases in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta.

Some 800 residents have been warded over the weekend - double the number before floods submerged the city. "
