PORT SALERNO, Florida Another scuba diver died on Thursday, the third diver death during Florida's "wild and crazy" Florida lobster mini-season.
Scott Schichtel, 39, was diving for lobsters with his brother, Richard, off Peck Lake, some three miles south of St. Lucie Inlet.
At about 12:20 pm, the divers resurfaced and returned to the boat where Scott complained that he was feeling ill.
Richard started the boat and headed back to shore but on the way, Scott stopped breathing and lost consciousness.
Richard called 911 and started CPR before docking at Sandsprit Park where paramedics took over.
They rushed the victim to Martin Memorial Hospital but he never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at the medical facility.
