Doesn't that mean an ascent rate is implicit? If you must go from depth to 6m in a certain amount of time, what is the ascent rate used for that calculation?

No, the time you leave the bottom is up to you, you just have to arrive at 6m at the appointed time.

The maximum ascent rate is 15m/minute, but any lower rate is ok. By the tables the no stop time for a 30m air dive is 20 minutes, so using 15m/min you have to leave the bottom at about minute 18 to arrive at 6m at minute 20. If using a 4m/minute rate then 24/4 is 6 so leave at minute 14. (Oops)
