I have to share with everyone on this thread how much all your concern, support and information helped me. I received much more information from all of you than any of the 5 doctors I have seen because none of them had ever heard of IPE. After the 4 specialists released me I gathered all my information and went to an Internal Medicine doctor locally on Tuesday and she once again did a full blood panel and b/p check. All my tests were normal so I took my first step today and went shore diving!!
It was awesome! Thank you all so much for all your help!

:monkeydance: Whhhooooootttt!!!! :chicken:

Way to go, Denise!!!! :cheerleader:

To make a long story as short as possible, I no longer trusted my regular ob/gyn because of a botched surgery he did on my daughter. I began to search for another specialist and was referred to this doctor. The doctor was a regenerative medicine doctor who believed in homeopathic medicine and natural vitamins, herbs, etc. rather than synthetic drugs. I know you have probably all heard about bio identical hormones by now. I thought I was doing the right thing for my health. He did full panel profiles and said although my overall thyroid levels were ok, my t3 to t4 ratio was not balanced and prescribed armour thyroid along with a host of vitamins, minerals, etc that of course you bought from him....kind of like the snake oil treatment referred to above.
Armor thyroid is evil, unreliable stuff. I'm sure your end doctor has told you this by now.

The Endocrinologist that was asked to see me before I left the hospital told me to get off of it because I probably didn't need it in the first place. I did and he rechecked me in 4 weeks and my thyroid levels were normal. I just had it rechecked Tuesday and it is still normal with no medication. I will never go back to the doctor that prescribed it.

I didn't read every message in this thread. I have seen high output cardiac failure due to overactive thyroid. Wonder if that may have contributed any to what happened to you? I am glad to see that you were able to recover and even go dive again.
There is a doctor in our community who has been starting thyroid medications on people who probably don't need it. Selling a bunch of vitamins too. Guess there is one in every crowd......

That is exactly the kind of doctor who was treating me and that is the ONLY explanation I have found for what happened to me because that is the only thing they found wrong with me after all the tests they did over 3 days at the hospital and the cardiologist was very thorough, he studied IPE even though he had never heard of it and he tried his best to find out what had caused it. After my release from the hospital I had tests done by two pulmonary doctors who found nothing wrong with me.
No one knows for sure what caused it, but I know that an elevated thyroid does have a negative impact on your cardiovascular system and it does seem plausible.
It took me about 6 weeks to get my strength back after the incident but I began to feel better and I now feel better than I have in quite awhile, in fact better than the whole time I was under that doctor's care.

Fantastic news Denise! delighted you are getting wet again. :flowers: Thank you for sharing your journey and learning curve with us:hugs:

The thanks belong to all of you. I might not have had the courage to try again if it were not for all of you. The doctors looked at me with blank faces or asked me to find a new hobby.
Again, I cannot thank all of you enough for your information, comfort and support. You have given me the tools I needed to go forward and believe that I can accomplish my dreams.
