Does anyone here know any more on the dive accident at Gilboa Quarry this past weekend? My local paper only said it was two divers from Michigan. An instructer and a student who were on their third dive when something happened. They were taken to the hospital.

I was told a girl bolted to the surface at the tubes. She spent the night in the hospital but is ok.

Bolted from 60'! Very, very scary. Glad to hear that she is OK. Could have been a very bad situation.

Actually both of them were released from the hospital that night after about a three hour stay, once it was determined that they were fine by a specialist :D

Thanks for the correction 2Cents and welcome to the board!

As of yesterday, both of them are doing fine.

Thanks for the welcome!

Glad to hear it was not any more serious. Does anyone know if Gilboa requires "training simulations" to be registered before hand? I was diving one time at a quary and saw a group of divers carrrying a diver from the water. I didn't know if I should stay out of the way of the training class or dump my gear on the ground, run to my truck, grab my O2 kit, med bag, and defibulator and head over to help. Now, I ask if any training is going on so that if I do see a situation, I know it is not a drill.

don't know if you must register first or not. They do have a number of rescue diver courses going on during the summer weekends...but other than that, sorry, no help!
