Alfa? Never heard of it. Alpha, on the other hand.........
Alfa is the international spelling. Alpha is the American spelling.

Just like Aluminum is the American spelling Aluminium is the international spelling.

I thought alpha as well, but I saw it on a website as alfa. It is actually on reputable government sites as alfa! I dunno...I half allways ben a strong speler, so I thinc you mite be rong yourcellph. :D

When flag is flown singly on a stationary vessel it means,"Diver down; keep clear."
When flag is flown singly on a vessel under way it means, "I am undergoing a speed trial."


The Second part of that definition seems to be somewhat different to what was posted earlier in this thread. Although I suppose speed trial might be a case of limited manuverability.



I am sure glad all of the internationaly accepted symbols for maritime safety are so well understood :)
