I yak dive although I don't know about using a tandem. You definitely want to use a sit on top. I have a Cobra Fish/Dive. I assemble my BC on the beach & place it in the rear well. The rest of my gear goes inside the hatch. Make sure you tether everything to the boat. I have a tether that connects my BC to the yak. If you don't have an inside hatch, I recommend you tether mask & fins as well. When I get to my site, I dump my BC in the water. (I have integrated weights.) Don mask & fins. Then jump in & put the BC on in the water. Reverse the procedure when exiting. You must use the larger size dive flag on the yak as it is considered a boat & not a float.
Thanks for the tips. Quick question on dive flag size. My towable flag is 14" x 16", but looking on Amazon, I see several larger size flags for boats. What size is required?
Edit: I found this;
The size of the divers-down symbol depends on whether the divers-down warning device is displayed from the water or from a vessel. On the water, the divers-down symbol must be at least 12 x 12 inches in size. On a vessel, the symbol must be at least 20 x 24 inches in size.
