Leipzig. The body of a diver was discovered in the Cospuden lake in Leipzig. According to the spokesman of the police direction Leipzig, the retrieval of the body has been specially difficult because it was located at a depth of more than 40m (131ft). Police divers were still working in the very cold conditions of the flooded open cast mine.

The identity of the deceased was initially unclear. A year ago, at Easter 2012, a diver disappeared in this lake. Despite days of searching, the 42 year old was not found at that time. "We do not yet know whether he is the missing diver", said the police spokesman. Sport divers discovered the body on Saturday morning and informed the police. The sport diver of Thuringia had gone solo diving in the lake on Easter Sunday, 2012. When he did not return, his girlfriend called the police from the shore. The police even used a diving robot to aid with the search. After five days, the search was stopped. The Cospuden lake is more than four square kilometers (2.5 square miles) and up to 50 meters (164 ft) deep. (Reuters).
