It looks like I will be traveling to Puerto Rico for business the week after Thanksgiving (11.26 - 11.30). I will be staying, and working, in the San Juan area. I will have a rental car during my stay.

I probably will not have a lot of time free during the day, maybe one or two afternoons. My nights will be free.

I'd like to get my gear wet while I am there. Are there any dive opportunities for afternoon and/or night diving that are within a 30 to 60 minute drive from San Juan?

What are water temperatures like this time of the year?

Also, any recommended Dive Ops? Any shops I should stay away from?

By far the best diving is at the west and south west, not an afternoon drive.
Next best is Fajardo or even Humacao. Again not likely in an afternoon.

You are left with El Escambron as the most accessible in San Juan area. Not great, but it has good fish population, and some coral, etc. The water is warm. I used a 3mm shorty, but many others just used a swim suit.

Get in touch with one of the two guides I mentioned in my post. They are both great and it will make it a lot easier. Tell them that I said hi.
