I beleive it has an "underwater" setting. If you turn the knob to SCN (Scene), there should be a little fish icon you can select in the display.

This improves the color balance a lot. The setting is on the A95, but I beleive it's also on the A85

That should get you started. Also have a look around for other "get started" threads...there were quite a few around the beginning of northern summer!

Have a fabulous time and let's see those shots :D

Yeah, it has an "Underwater" setting within SCN as Web Monkey stated. I have the A85 and have been happy with it so far, just need to pick up a strobe for it.
Good luck and hope to see you posting your pics.

Here's what I start with on the A70:
"P" mode, flash off, exposure compensation: -2/3 , white balance: cloudy, ISO: 100, light metering: center weighted, red-eye reduction off, AiAF frame selection: off, AF assist: off, digital zoom: off, review: 2 seconds, resolution: maximum, superfine. Usually, I'll switch over to manual white balance as soon as I'm down.
For macro stuff, switch to manual, set the flash to 1/3 or 2/3, f8 and the fastest shutter speed that will light your subject (start around 1/800 at 2/3 flash)

How is the A85 housing? I'm thinking about buying it. Did you get good pictures? Does have a mount for a strobe?

Thanks!

there is no one setting as i am learning. a good start would be the underwater setting, from their you can play around and move up to either one of the priority settings. read the manual too, a lot of good info you can learn and apply to your photoshoots. good luck and post them pics
