does anyone check log books ?

I have been asked for it several times diving in South Asia. Although not essential, the divemasters had a real interest in reading them. Other places just ask the number of dives that you have and for certification.

The only time i have really found them personaly useful was on repeat wreck dives with a time gap. Went to Coron some time ago and will go again in the near future, the logbook was helpful in preparing.

If you dive a lot under different conditions (fresh vs salt; different exposure suits) the log can be a good way to remember what amount of weight to use in these situations.

you can also just take notes on what weight you use in what conditions...

i don't understand why filing these kinds of notes by dive number is the best way to have them available to look up...
