Just finished my week with a night dive. Saw... a sea snake.

Nope. No sea snakes in the Caribbean (or Atlantic).

Yes, first time I saw on in 92 I thought for sure it was a sea snake and I kept my distance. Actually they are white spotted eels. Sure do look like a snake but no problem.

It looked very snake-like. But it was white with black spots, so must have been the spotted eel. We saw a couple during the day. Just not free swimming.
 
Actually sometimes called sharp tail eel, usually dark brown body with white spots. At least that is what I have seen in Cozumel, thus the name "white spotted" eel.
