My husband and I are taking our first dive vacation next month. We'll spend 5 nights at Ramon's Village on Ambergris Caye and 4 nights at Hamanasi Resort on the mainland. I've already heard from Hamanasi that I can't download my digital photos there. I was wondering if there's anyplace to go in San Pedro to get digitals off an Olympus 4040 onto a CD.

Thanks!

Can't help with the camera, but go see Pineapple Willie play. They are an oldies band and can usually be found at Crazy Canuck's, Fido's or the Hideaway. Also, you can get nitrox now at Ramons, they bring it up from Protech, about 2 blocks down the beach.

How about downloading them onto a small rough service waterproof laptop? Inexpensive Itronix laptops can be found fairly easily.
A PCMCIA SmartMedia card adaptor (about $20) will download the contents of the card in a flash with no drain on your camera's batteries.

Ok, we're new to scuba and we just picked up two sets of equipment for ourselves, plus paid for a 10-day vacation in Belize. I have a budget of around $15 to get the photos off the memory card. I don't even want to splurge on a second 128M card let alone purchase a laptop. Cheapo ideas, anyone?

You may be able to find an internet cafe on ambergris. I know that there is one on Caye Caulker ( and that's a very tiny island).

There is an internet cafe on Ambergirs Caye. I can't remember the name of it right now, but it was on Pescador St. I didn't get in there so I can't say for sure what they have. Try typing in "Ambergris Caye and Internet Cafe" into a search engine to see what you can come up with. Hope that helps a bit. Gaz would be the most informative, but I believe he's away on business.

I am not sure what you will need to download that you wouldn't already have, but someone metntioned Internet Cafes as a place to get this done. I so, take heart. I was last in San Pedro 2 years ago, but there were at last 3 Internet Cafes there. 2 on Front St, and one further back, near the casino as I recall. I think Belize tourist towns are te most wired places in the 3rd world!

Hi Try the

Caribbean Connection Internet cafe located on front st in Sam Pedro

Not sure if they are capable of doing what you wanted but they are well set up so I am sure they can help you.

Also check out www.ambergriscayediscounts.com and you can print out a discount voucher to get 15% off any services you use, plus a bunch of other good stuff when you visit Ambergris Caye.

Have Fun

regards

Gaz
