Thinking about returning to Bonaire this December. Question? In order to drive on the island, do I need an International Drivers License or does my PA license suffice?

Thanks,
Dave (aka "Squirt")

If you really want an international drivers license, you can get one at Triple A (AAA) for about $10 bucks. but they are really a joke as all AAA does is have you fill out a card and stick your picture on it....

Caribbean islands don't require them as most US travelers don't have them. They would rather have your money (renting you a car) than deny you over a cardboard drivers license from a travel agency.

What everyone else said.
I just wanted to ad that we were told not to worry about keeping it with us, that the police recognize the trucks as rentals and the rental co. had allready checked our licences FWIW.

Nine trips, and my DL stays in the safe unless I'm out to dinner or shopping. When going diving, it stays in the safe:D
