Make sure the suit is fully burped when you do it...

You may also be able to weave a 4lb weight on the crotch strap. I've seen people do that before with good results

I never would have thought of that but that sounds like a good idea for a couple pounds. If you put it almost at your plate then it gets it lower than all other weight but in a place where it should not impact your fin kicks or comfort.
 
Did two dives today in the suit. Moved the plate down my back a bit, put 4# on my crotch strap, 2 on ankles, and 10 on hips. Seemed to resolve the problem completely. Thanks everyone for the advice it really helped.

A friend dove with me and we just did ascents and descents on the first dive with stops at 10, 15, 20, & 25'. For an hour. This was also extremely helpful...thanks buddy.
