My drysuit zipper is starting to leak. The brass is in perfect shape and glides easily. The plasticized fabric that provides the actual seal has worn off in sections. I have heard of people patching these to extend the life a bit before biting the bullet and replacing the zipper.

What is the best material to use to patch the plastic fabric, Aquaseal or 3M 5200?

I have used 5200 to patch the bottom of zodiac inflatable boats with excellent results. It sticks to everything. I know nothing of the repair of drysuits.

You can get a new zipper from Global or OS Systems will match their price. Should be around $120. Then use contact cement to glue it in and Aquaseal to glue the edges. It is inevitable...might as well replace it now.

Otherwise I would recommend Aquaseal for an attempted patch.
