I've been acquainting myself with different pony systems, and it seems that the "all-in-one" systems out there do *not* include environmentally sealed regs. It even seems like the regs aren't suitable for cold water.

I would tend to think it is important for my alternate air source to be "cold water friendly." Am I missing something here?

Read this thread that has some information about how cold water affected sealed and unsealed regulators. There appears to have not been much difference.

(Note: This thread is not titled or started out as an environmental seal thread, but the discussion changed in the middle of the thread).

Sadly, The Decostop will not permit me access without registering.

Thanks for the info.

It is an interesting thread; some unsealed regulators resist freeze-up in during uncontrolled free-flow better than some sealed regulators. I accept the point that environmental seals may not be a silver bullet, but they still might be generally a good idea in cold water (at least that seems to be standard wisdom-- nothing in the thread put forth a theory about sealed systems being *inferior*). I also am interested more in a freezing reg leading to an uncontrolled free-flow, not the other way around.
