HMS Victoria

It's a bit deep, the political situation locally is less than stable and the logistics would be a nightmare but how many other vertical shipwrecks are there?

Easter Island, Chile, 5000 km off the shore of South America has 200 ft viz, lava tubes and endemic fish. I needed a 3 ml suit.

Clear Lake, OR, with 100 ft viz, however at 42F I needed my drysuit. Very cool 3000 year old underwater forest, lime green algae and water so blue it was like diving in a sapphire.

Finally if you like currents, try the St Clair River at Sarnia, Ontario. Lake Huron's water rushes into the river at between 5 and 7 knots. Or you can do Thompson's Hole in the Niagara River at Fort Erie, Ont.

*edit*
found the Thompson Hole video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0YCP73FivY

plus my favourite ice diving video, shot in Morrison's Quarry in the province of Quebec. Yeah, you go, wooferb*tch!

bonne terre mine is amazing! dove it 2 weeks ago and cant wait to go back. first dives are pretty basic but the more you dive the darker and more technical they get. lots of cool artifacts from the mine including a "lost" town where the miners lived while working the mine. i haven't seen it yet, but i will!

The St Clair river under the Blue Water Bridge runs 9+ and sometimes 12 knots. My home dive sight...I have been on the bottom around 50' and could see people walking on the sidewalk and tell you the color of their shirts, but at times the vis is 6" water temps from 30f to 70f.
