Feb 11 dive buddy Catalina or somewhere close

Hi All,

Divegirl from FL here again and heading to Irvine for another meeting. My plan is to come in on Tuesday for diving on Wednesday, Feb 11. Possibly Catalina or another recommendation (boat on a Wednesday?) that someone may have that is close to the Irvine area.

Also, hopefully will have a co-worker with me but she is newer to diving (I think she has about 25 dives under her belt) - she is not a guarantee though as PADI hasn't gotten her a permanent card yet (some snafu?) (sounds like my dealing with my NITROX card last year).

If anyone has any suggestion or wants to join in on diving please post or PM me.

How about a beach dive on the coast in Laguna Beach? Low cost and availabe on your schedule. I would suggest Treasure Island (The Montage Resort), or Seal Rock or some any other Laguan Beach location. Dive boats around here mostly only operate on Friday-Sunday schedules. You could take the ferry to Catalina and dive Casino Point.

I tried to get on that boat several times for a night dive. Each time the trip got canceled.

Hmmm, Mo2vation...not sure who that friendly diver was that did a great job in guiding me around Casino Pointe. LOL Thanks!!!

OK - my flights are booked - I arrive early on Feb 10 and plan to dive Feb 11. Currently may be changing the outbound flight if my meetings extend into the next week but this won't be confirmed until tomorrow. This would mean diving over the weekend too

I confirmed with Sport Chalet that they can confirm my co-worker's certification through PADI by phone if necessary.

So...we're looking to dive on the 11th and hoping for a dive buddy that knows the area and is interested in diving?

I'll look into the different options already posted but if anyone is interested in diving with us either from Laguna Beach or Casino Pointe please let me know.

I would not advise going to CP during the week (except Fridays). The fill station is closed and you'll end up either wasting a lot of time or money or both.

If your up for a night dive in Redondo, Reef seakers is having their squid run on Wednesday at Vet's park. Provided it doesn't cancel like last three times. I am very hopeful. If it does, I need a backup plan and a dive buddy. You up for that.

I am open to a night dive for Weds evening. I called Reef Seekers & they meet at 8pm at Veteran's Park in Redondo Beach. They say it's a go so unless that's not right (Dave?) then I'd probably be up for that. About an hour drive though!

I'm currently set up for Tues night & Weds morning in the Laguna area.

Looking forward to getting into some chilly water :ice:
