And a honeymoon in Fiji sounds idyllic! A tip I heard from a friend is to make sure they know you're newlyweds on the oceanic flights. I know of two couples that have been upgraded to first class on longhaul oceanic flights!

Peter: which dates are you going Nov 17? If so, we will surely pass in the night as we're boarding the 22nd. I can't WAIT! I've been dreaming of Mary's island for weeks!

_ Peter: which dates are you going Nov 17? If so:
Hi Bella!

Yes, I board the Spirit on Nov 17, for a 14-day trip. I've devoured every bit of material I could find on the Solomons and Bilikiki/Spirit of Solomons. But I'm always interested in more! Since you've been so many times, can you offer any tips about what I can expect, the best sites to ask for and what to bring for both myself and crew/local folks?

I had my best diving experience ever last year on the Star Dancer in Papua New Guinea. I can't wait to experience the Solomons!

All the best,

Tricky decision.
Does anyone know if the beqa rate of $300 per day is PER PERSON or total? US prices are usually total, but in Europe they are usually listed per person, no idea what in oceania... hence why I ask.

Cause, if its per person, thats $600 a day + food $60/day/pp = $720 a day + diving...
Thats more than a liveaboard in the galapagos....

Kulu Bay on the other hand, is $1000 pp + diving ... so $2k for a week - or about $285 a day...

I'd be amazed if it weren't per person. What prices did you have in mind when you said "US prices are usually total ... "

I'm not amazed: with a little further digging: Bequ Lagoon is $300 per night for the room, $60 per day per person for meals, and $100 per day per person for a 2 tank dive for a total of $310 per person per day for two. Kulu Bay is $143 per person per day for room and meals plus (say) $100 per person per day for a 2 tank dive for a total of $243 per person per day - that's an introductory rate.

Well, thats why I was asking... If that $300 a night is per person, its not $310 per person, its $360 + diving - say $460 a head vs $243 - nearly twice the cost - not sure if Beqa is worth twice as much. I'll just call and find out I guess.

I shows on Beqa's website that they have package deals - including airfare from LAX, diving, and food, for approx. $2500/week. That's not too bad....

You should really consider Uepi, in the Solomons - it's absolutely spectacular, both under and above water - cabin 6 is the perfect one for a honeymoon - your own beach, secluded, romantic..........the resort is well run, by a couple of mature aussies and the food and diving are some of the best that you'll find anywhere in the world.

check the website (www.uepi.com) for more info or email me direct: cbimages@ceinternet.com.au

cheers
Carol

I think those prices are in Fiji dollars.....
we are heading to Fiji in June 2006 and staying at Wananavu Resort with our whole package (airfare from LAX, hotel for week, all food, diving for 5 days with Kai Viti divers) for under $3000 per person.
