Hey, fellow divers!

I've been diving for 6 months and I love documenting my dives meticulously. Except I find existing dive apps a bit limiting, clunky and complicated.

If you like to log dives, photos, marine life, and equipment, check stats and share dive stories with your friends. I am building a new dive app experience -

Check out the app features, and screenshots here & join the waitlist - Discover, Log & Share Dives | Dive Log Book 👈🏼
  • Explore & Discover Dive Sites: Search & filter over 9000+ dive sites, with ratings, pictures, visibility, marine life and depth info. Check out dive site weather conditions (temperature, wind speed, tide). 🗺️
  • Seamlessly Log Dives: Sync your dive computer logs using Bluetooth and log all the details you want to track (conditions, equipment, marine life, etc). Also, attach your dive photos. 🐠

So how many dive sites do you have in the app and where have you sourced the data?

I'm curious if you needed to get permission from folks like Shearwater to sync? All permissions granted? When I hit the 'Sign Up' button it just jiggles. I'm curious what the cost might be.

This might depend for various manufacturers, but AFAIK many—if not most—allow access to their dive computers from other software for the purposes of downloading logs without requiring permission (though of course, trademarks etc. are another thing).

There is a free, open source project called libdivecomputer that handles only the syncing part for many different brands and models of dive computers. Anyone can use as part of their own app/software (e.g., Subsurface, a very popular—and open source—dive log software uses libdivecomputer) as long as they adhere to the license. Otherwise, no special permissions from the manufacturers of the dive computers is necessary.

Yes, the OS project libdivecomputer is pretty awesome and for sync permission is not required from manufactures that have BLE (bluetooth) devices there. Although bluetooth permission will be required from user's device to scan and connect.

Oh it has accepted your waitlist sign up request, I'll fix the acknowledgment message! Thanks

The app has about 9000+ dive sites and lot of marine life species to help with logging. I have collected this data mostly with the help of different forums and folks at dive shop who pointed me to different sources.

So why would I pay to use an app that doesn’t have information on my dive sites. I go off grid and dive unknown sites. Why should I disclose those so they become crowded.
