I am looking into buying my frist metal detector. I think I have narrowed my choice to the Tesoro tiger Shark or JW Fisher 1280X. I was wanting to know if anyone is useing these machines. I will use it for the most part in fresh water but will want to use it on or around the beach pluse under the sea if possable.

Not sure what you are willing to spend on a quality MD, but don't overlook Minelab. I think once I got over the learning curve, that my Excaliber is the best MD I have used. I mostly use it in fresh water while SCUBA diving and on the beaches but also have used it around local parks and ballfields. I have used a Fisher 1280X that I picked up on E-Bay for cheap but I only used it on the shores of Lake Erie and never really found much except clad but had a blast detecting with it. I think no matter what brand or model you purchase, I belive you will definatly enjoy any of the detectors mentioned.
