Any ideas?

It looks almost like a juv. Barred Hamlet but the coloring is not correct. My wife took this photo in Curacao a couple weeks ago at a depth between 30-80ft. Size is about 2".

yessir, that's the only Caribbean species of hawkfish, the redspotted hawkfish (Amblycirrhites pinos)

You'll never see Hamlets sitting on the bottom. They are in the Seabass family, so you weren't that far off. Notice the shape of the pupils.
