May have nothing to do with accident, but because various hotel and condo buoys were washed away by storms I have seen boats a lot closer to shore up north. Wouldn’t matter as much in town by the ramp, but I have looked out my window a few times and said “whoa, those guys are close and fast!”

Be careful if you snorkeling anywhere other than at the shoreline wall up north. As previously noted the wall did take a hit from Delta

Or if anchored at least a white anchoring light. That boat should not have been there.
Was the buoyed boat not displaying a light? Why should he not have been at a buoy?

I suspect alcohol was involved.

This was tragic.

As Christi has said, this is a tragic accident.
As a boater myself, who has had a near collision at night, this is a tragic event.
Peace to the deceased, his family and all involved.
And to all other boaters, use your nav lights and have a working horn.
