JeffG:
A piece of hardware to solve a skill issue is usually always a problem.

dang JeffG, you been taking your smart pills lately?

JeffG:
Really? I read it that the diver just couldn't do the snap...not that the hose was "lost".

It has happened to me when the d-ring lies flat on the webbing and you have to feel around for it to pull it off the webbing.
I read it that the diver probably thought he had it clipped, but it wasn't there when he went to check it again. If he couldn't get it clipped, I'd think he wouldn't have waited til he wanted to look at it again to get some help from his buddy.

The first time I checked my spg, I didn't get it snapped back to my hip. I couldn't find it without my buddy's help, which worries me.

Hey Pants!, it depends on their definition of the word "it". (Clinton era flashback)

If "it" is the SPG, then Specter was right.
If "it" is the D-ring that he couldn't clip to (couldn't find it) Jeff is right.

I read it the same way Jeff did...couldn't find the D-ring.

hmmm... ok, gotta disagree on that reading, Jason

i read it as he forgot to clip the SPG, swam along, then tried to get the SPG
back, but couldn't find it by himself

I thought I had it clipped, but it wasn't the next time I went to check my gas.
After that I double check now that it's clipped everytime I put it back. I just was wondering the best way to recover from that - I tried following the hose down from the first stage, but it's difficult to tell the difference between the inflator hose and the spg hose, especially with 5mil gloves on.

Same as recovering a 2nd state like someone else had stated, lean to the side, reach back and sweep.

I guess my smart pill ran out of steam.

I've got plenty if needed.

On second look, nevermind, these are smartass pills.

It seems like a reach would be better than a sweep for recovery. After a while, it should become simple to tell the LP from the HP.
