The Canon housings have a bad rep for flooding.... Actually saw one bite the dust a couple years ago in Bonaire. Fix housings are awesome, I have an Ikelite, it works well, but no TTL in manual mode.

color correction is pretty easy with white balance, shooting raw and simple post processing.

A macro lens will get you crisper images.

The TTL issue I mention above is a limitation placed by Canon. The Ikelite system allows for all functions of the G12 that you'd normally have. The Ikelite housing is robust and easy enough to use.
 
I just returned form Bonaire I took my Canon G-11 and my G-12 both have the Canon Housings. I use the Sealife SeaDragon LED Light, heres some of the results.....
