I'm not sure I want to post on Scubaboard and carry the stigma that entails but what the hell...
ROFL..

Any pics of the results?
No, but the color was something like an eggplant.. :)

I know I'm not going to let you get away with it.

So what was your conclusion from your evaluation of the X-Scooters, standard Gavin, Farallon and Mako?

Btw, I keep seeing pictures of the silver X-Scooter:

Is it made from a different material?

The one at the demo was the original non-coated X-Scooter. The one in the pic with the camera is Andrew's wife's scooter with a grey powder coat on it.

For long body work I would much rather drive an SS than a Gavin. I have not had enough time on the X long body right now to place it. For pure driving pleasure it can't be beat but I just haven't had a chance to test the X's batteries for long dives.

Hi Brian,

Most of the diving we do is shore diving with the long body. We have been getting 100+ minutes of burntime in doubles and multiple bottles. The X is the only scooter I've owned, but I have numerous dives on Gavins, SS's and Makos, and the X is so easy to ride you can almost fall asleep at the wheel! For those that are considering an X, there are a number of trip reports (some have video) from the dives a lot of us are doing over on the X-Forums.

Here's one Andrew and I did a few weeks ago just to show the range of our dives.

Brian is bit of a weenie  We have XL hulls, not longs. I think there are only 4 XL ever sold and they are all in Alberta.

I wasn't aware there was anything in between our 3 battery hull and the standard one battery hull.

Being trailblazers I guess we better get those things in the water pretty soon and give them a go. May long weekend in Jasper perhaps?

Actually, I believe they discontinued our hull and only make the standard and the long now. With Tobins new battery you can get long burn times without having all those batteries.

But yea, we should maybe do a run in Jasper with the XL hulls.

I've heard of some of the longish dives you guys have done. Sounds like fun! We have a route that we follow in Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park that takes about 120 minutes. I'm looking forward to the viz clearing up there so that I can take my X out and do that tour.

It's really amazing how much ground you can cover with these things. It has made diving so much more fun and allowed us to see things that could previously only been seen off of a boat.
