Does anyone know where I could find a detailed maps of the entire spring system with line placements and all? I have found the Berman maps but they lack line placements and some detail. Any others??

this is the best Berman map online, but it does not show the lines (not sure if this is one you have):

you can order a map with the lines from Ginnie Springs

Call Cave Excursions East (386-454-7511) and ask for information on Jeff Hancock's map. The map isn't cheap, but it is detailed and does have line placement.

I bought a copy of Jeff's map (#140/500) and it was well worth it. Very detailed with line placements, etc. Great for planning dives.

Still...I would recommend that anyone that doesn't know the Devil's Eye/Ear system take their time and learn the cave system via progressive penetration(s).

i've heard this is the best map. totally skipped my mind

Johnny: hi, good to see you here

Sorry about going off topic. However, I am looking at the map and I wonder are July Spring or Lightening Spring accessible access points? In case you are thinking it, am not looking for a away to short change Ginnie at all. (The access to a hot shower and bathroom is worth more than I can put into words.) I am just curious if people ever pop up at July Spring or Lightening Spring and then turn around and head back out. Although Lightening Spring looks like it is more in the river than an alcove.

no, i understand they are too narrow to enter/exit

Yea, I went up to July Spring during my full cave course two weeks ago, it's a trip and gets really narrow towards the top. But, from what I've heard, even on a good day, you "might" be able to see light from the spring above.

The July Springs "exit" is for water only- it is an extremely small crack with no way for a diver to squeeze through.
