For holding back bangs when not wearing a hood or cap, Goody makes what I call a "hair bungee:" a narrow hairband that looks like a giant ponytail holder and has rubber grips to keep it on your head. It usually works.

where have I been under a rock?

was she a porn star?

geez loiuse

I have to draw the line with tattoo ink. I think it turns kind of yellow as it ages though.

have you seen women with wierd sort of purple eyebrows? and it gets fuzzy lookimg.

but ..interesting post.

The old eyeliner ones look great. That's about where I'd draw the line with the cosmetic tatooing if I were to get it. I've seen some pics and I wasn't impressed. Thought it looked rather garish! Plus, makeup fashion changes and so does your skin. Wouldn't want to be stuck with something that was entirely outdated!

Plus, many who are compelled to wear a lot of makeup are doing so 'cause they don't have great skin in the first place and they use a lot of foundation which can't be tatooed and would cover the tatooing.

Now, if anyone has a waterproof mascara and eyeliner that won't flake, get into my eyes (I wear contacts) or make my lashes stick together, please share!

Alcina, did I understand you correctly? You put the Biolage mixed with water in a spray bottle? My hair sounds exactly like your's so I'd love to try that out too.

Yup, I have one of the pump containers and one of the really big squeezie ones. I bought one of those travel sized spritzers from Target and to that I pump or one short squeeze one shot in then add fresh water.

Remember to shake it pretty well before you use it. I've found that needing a lot of product is a myth and this works just fine. I'll either finger comb it, tie it back or really comb it - whatever my immediate after diving/boat trip needs are. Works a charm. I find that it lasts a very very long time.

If I'm organized, I'll pop a squirt onto my hair before I leave the house to go diving - but this only happens sometimes

I have a similar haircut and the exact same problem. What I have learned to do is just dive with a hood, regardless of the water temp or what I look like with it on. It prevents my hair from covering up my mask, a real issue if I'm trying to take pics u/w. I also have problems that my hair, if left uncovered, will somehow cause my mask to leak. Problems are all solved with the hood. On a more girlie note, I did get a special-order hood from Terrapin that looks like a tiara. I can be a dive diva now! Plus, regardless of how silly it looks, my buddy will never lose me in a crowd. That, to me, is well worth any chiding I might receive for diving with a hood in the Caribbean.

You know what, I have 2 of these already but I never thought they'd work underwater. I shall try them, Firedive, thank you.

For daytime, I have expensive department store mascara. But for diving/ watersports, even though I have a drawer full of waterproof mascaras that I've tried, nothing works better than Maybellines Great Lash Waterproof (remember the pink tube?). I typically don't wear a lot of makeup in general, but I tend to have very pale eyelashes. Add that to the red eyes that I get after diving in chlorine or saltwater and I look like I've bee smokin' crack. So I HAVE to wear a little mascara to look somewhat presentable. Great Lash stays on even after several dives and a post dive shower. Add a little eyeshadow after showering and you're good to go through the evening.

I picked up a copy of the latest issue of Jane and there is a tip in their in an article titled, "The Slackers Guide to Looking Swanky", that I think would really work for us lady divers who want to look good in the water. Here goes:

Try a nontoxic red Sharpie (that's right, permanent marker) for a lasting lip stain. Dot along your lips and blend with a natural balm.

Tip came from Cristina Barolucci of DuWop Cosmetics.

Just so happen to have a nontoxic red Sharpie in my desk drawer and a brand new tube of Ocean Potion lip balm that I found along with their sunscreen at the local drugstore chain.

Not sure if I am brave enough to try it while I'm still at work!:mischief:

I use these all the time and they work great for my bangs under my hood. They do stay on u/w as well.
